Skype for WinPho on its way?

So says Skype exec, but no exact specifics of app arrival date.

Despite Microsoft making an $8.5 billion takeover of video calling platform Skype that was stretched out across Q3-Q4 last year, there hasn't been any sort of technical integration between the pair that was spoken of prior to their engagement.

At CES Rick Osterloh, Skype VP of products, said: "We’re … working on a Windows Phone product that will be coming out soon."

Presumably the aforementioned 'product' will be a dedicated Skype app, the likes of which have already been produced for rival operating systems BlackBerry, Android and iOS.

Skype's iPhone app alone has more than 60 million users and with Windows Phone receiving a new push from Nokia as its OS of choice, that's potentially millions of newcomers joining the 200 million-strong service.

Osterloh continued: "We’re working with a lot of different Microsoft product groups to create direct integrations. Right now, we’re working on Windows Phone, we’ll be working on Windows 8, Xbox, Lync. So a whole range of different Microsoft users will get access to Skype and have a great experience."
