Mobile browser maker Skyfire is the latest to set its sights on the App Store, following Opera and Mozilla.
The company has submitted its iPhone mobile browser app to Apple, and says its USP is the ability to play Flash videos.
Isn't Flash barred from iOS devices? Indeed. Skyfire says its technology transcodes Flash videos into HTML5 content, so they can be watched on the iPhone.
"Skyfire supports HTML5 but at the same time, we recognize that the transition to HTML5 for 100 million Flash publishers will take years," says CEO Jeff Glueck.
"We hope to bridge that gap and solve a problem for consumers who want access to millions of previously-unavailable videos on their iPhones."

Skyfire says its browser also compresses video data by an average 75%, which it's pitching as a boon both for users and for operators whose networks are already being strained by smartphone users.
Will the app be approved? Skyfire claims that its app has been developed with 'significant' oversight and feedback from Apple, so it seems confident of getting the green light.
