Sky inks new 3 UK deal

Arrangement sees operator promoting service on-portal, with Sky streaming content from an off-portal site.

Sky is now hosting its mobile TV service outside of 3’s own 'Planet 3' portal using a platform from Vidiator, although the content will still be promoted and accessed on-deck.

The channels are available monthly for a flat fee of £5 or for £1 per day.

However, as the service on 3 UK is hosted off-portal data will not be zero rated, so customers will have to take an add-on starting at £2.50 a month for a 10MB allowance.

Sky first launched mobile TV services with 3 in November 2006, but is increasingly looking to managed its mobile content offerings (and their ad inventory) in-house.

Sky Mobile TV is also available in the UK through Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile, with the company claiming 200,000 subscribers.
