BSkyB's Sky Go on-demand service, which allows subscribers to watch media via iPhone, iPad, computers and games consoles has hit the 1.6 million milestone since its release in July.
Jeremy Darroch, chief executive, said: "We continue to deliver strong financial results and good growth in customers and products.
"In tough market conditions, our move to more broadly based growth and multiple products ins serving us well."
Sky Go can be registered on up to two devices for paying satellite customers but a Nomura analyst informed Darroch that there was evidence of sharing devices between friends. Thus, avoiding paying for a subscription.
Darroch replied to the accusation, saying: "It’s something which we will keep a close eye on."

For Q3 BSkyB claims it saw a revenue growth of nine per cent up to £1.66 billion, an increased operating profit up 16 per cent to £295 million and a 29 per cent growth of users combining TV, broadband and telephone bills.
The report says US shows like Glee, Terra Nova and Boardwalk Empire will continue to be available, while new British comedies and dramas will join the fold alongside coverage of Formula 1.
Although the mobile market is limited to iOS at present, the firm claims to be working on other platforms including Android.
