Showyou app recommends videos based on Facebook and Twitter friends

Remixation's new iPhone and iPad app serves up a feed of YouTube videos based on friend recommendations.

Developer Remixation has launched its free Showyou app for iPhone and iPad, which offers users a grid of online videos to watch based on what their Facebook and Twitter friends have been sharing.

The app went live on Apple's App Store this morning, and lets users connect the app to their social networks, while also signing up for a Showyou profile.

Videos watched through the app can be shared again on Facebook and Twitter, while friends can be 'thanked' for posting a video that is particularly enjoyable.

Showyou also supports Apple's Airplay technology, streaming videos to a TV - as long as it's connected to the Apple TV set-top box, that is.

Showyou's release follows the launch earlier this month of SquareEyes, an iPad app that uses a similar 'grid of video thumbnails' UI, but with a more curated approach - although it also lets people import videos from their Facebook feeds.
