SGN replaces its CEO with its COO

Randy Breen steps up to lead social iPhone gaming company.

Social iPhone games publisher SGN has announced that its CEO Shervin Pishevar is stepping aside, to be replaced by current COO Randy Breen.

Pishevar will remain at the company as founder and executive chairman. Breen joined the company last year, following 15 years at EA and five years at LucasArts Entertainment.

SGN has made waves on iPhone with games like F.A.S.T. and Skies of Glory - the latter of which was one of the first iPhone games with a business model based entirely on in-app payments.

The company has notched up more than 15 million downloads of its games on iPhone. It hasn't announced how lucrative Skies of Glory has been, although it doesn't appear on the current US App Store's Top Grossing chart.

"Over the last five months, Randy has done an incredible job leading the company and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him," says Pishevar in a statement.

"With the industry preparing for explosive growth this year – resulting from massive expansion in the iPhone, Android and tablet marketplace – I strongly believe that Randy’s experience and knowledge will be instrumental in building SGN into the largest mobile social gaming company of 2010 and beyond."

That tablet reference is interesting, suggesting that SGN may be working on games for Apple's still-rumoured 'iSlate' device, which is expected to be unveiled later this month.
