Scoreloop takes social gaming platform to Android

Extends beyond iPhone with Core Social technology.

The iPhone social games platform market is increasingly crowded, with Xbox Live-esque features being touted to developers by platforms including OpenFeint, Scoreloop, Plus+, Crystal and AGON Online.

Android? It's been a wasteland by comparison, although some companies like Playfish have used Facebook Connect to put social features into their games for Google's smartphones.

Now Scoreloop has announced the extension of its Core Social platform to Android, complete with the online leaderboards, achievements, player challenges, profiles, cross-promotions and its virtual currency.

As on iPhone, Scoreloop says one of Core Social's key selling points is the way it's offered on a white-label basis, so developers and publishers can brand their own player community if they want to.

The leaderboards and challenge features are fully cross-platform, allowing iPhone and Android gamers to play against one another.
