Scoreloop confirms iPad support for its Core Social community

Extending Xbox Live style gaming to Apple's new tablet.

It's not just games developers getting hot under the collar for Apple's new iPad: social gaming platforms are also heading to the device.

Chillingo has already confirmed plans to add iPad support to its new Crystal community, and now Scoreloop has announced similar plans for its own Core Social platform.

"We were thrilled when we first saw the iPad," says CEO Marc Gumpinger. "There was no question that we would support it in addition to the iPhone and Android. We're now extremely proud to officially announce support for the iPad - starting today."

Scoreloop's Core Social community allows developers to include features like challenges, achievements, online leaderboards and social network integration into their games.

Gumpinger says the first iPad games to use Core Social are already in development, including TAG Games' Astro Ranch HD - for more on TAG boss Paul Farley's views on iPad, see our games feature.

It's safe to assume that Core Social and Crystal's rivals - OpenFeint, AGON Online, Plus+ and others - will all be supporting the new device too.
