Scalado focuses on imaging software upgrade

Swedish firm's new solution supports zero shutter lag - only possible before on advanced digital cameras.

Shutter lag has typically been one of the biggest technical challenges facing camera phones, especially when photographing moving objects.

This new solution is a collaboration between Scalado, Symbian, Texas Instruments and OmniVision. It uses OmniVision's smart camera sensor and Scalado SpeedTags embedded to manage the large files produced by high-resolution images and to improve overall JPEG image handling performance.

Elsewhere, the update can provide 20 frames/second instant full-resolution image handling and zero shutter lag. Other new features supported include burst-mode image capture, and instant zoom/pan.

It is being included in future versions of Symbian OS.
