Bumper cash and marketing support on offer in Smart App Challenge 2012

Samsung is looking for innovative smart apps for the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab, with a total prize fund of $4.08 million in cash prizes for winning developers as well as promotion for the most innovative apps chosen.

The prize fund will be divided among 80 winning apps in a variety of categories, including best game and best use of the Samsung S Pen in app development, with the grand prizes in the consumer judging and panel selection categories set at $200,000.

To take part, developers should register on www.smartappchallenge.com and then upload the app to the Samsung app store. Winners are judged by number of downloads, and for the S Pen category, put to a panel of specialist judges who will select the winners.

Simon Stanford, VP, telecommunications and networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: "The Samsung Smart App Challenge 2012 is a real opportunity for both established and budding app developers to secure funding and marketing support.

"It's an exciting project and we¹re looking forward to seeing what these developers create."
