Belief stems from rapid sales of Galaxy smartphones.
At a Galaxy launch event, a Samsung executive, said: "We are pinning high hopes...on achieving sales higher than our previous plan", reports Reuters.
However, interestingly enough the spokesperson didn't disclose what the firm expected to surpass the original smartphone sales target by.
Reuters says Samsung expects to achieve the results thanks to the sales of its Galaxy devices.
In September the Korean phone maker revealed its Galaxy S II sold 10m units in the space of five months, which was faster than earlier model the Galaxy S.
It has to be said Samsung's expectation is certainly optimistic in light of the faults the Galaxy Nexus smartphone has seen in the UK.
Customers have complained of a glitch that causes erratic volume and 2G signal issues on the world's first Ice Cream Sandwich-powered device.
