Service to arrive in US and Europe in the first half of 2012.
Samsung's deal with movie rental firm Blockbuster will provide a streaming service to users of Galaxy smartphones and tablets, and also Blu-ray players and connected Smart TVs, according to Smarthouse.
This is by no means the first time Samsung has experimented with movie delivery. It launched the shortlived Samsung Movies service in 2009 with Acetrax, and also makes film and TV content available through its Samsung Hub portal.
The report says that the US and Europe can expect to receive this new platform by summertime, while Australia won't get a rollout until September.
Blockbuster is Australia's largest film rental provider, but it has suffered in the US with the introduction of Netflix, which recently joined the crowded UK streaming market.
Additionally, Blockbuster was acquired by US broadcaster the Dish Network, which is also launching a streaming platform.

Paul Uniacke, CEO of the Franchise Entertainment Group, who holds the rights to the Blockbuster brand in Australia said that the Samsung move "is a brilliant deal."
Samsung is reportedly developing a unique billing service for the streaming platform, enabling users to log in and pay for content.
