Sagem grasps fingerprint tech

French OEM to add fingerprint ID to 2010 handsets.

Sagem formed a partnership with UPEK to bring the tech to its devices in order to address the market for app stores, m-banking, m-commerce, mobile enterprise applications, and mobile productivity tools.

The aim is to help operators, manufacturers and application developers to utilise fingerprint identity to personalise services and make them more secure.

“The emergence of new connected lifestyle devices is changing the way users interact with and consume mobile services,” said Jerome Nadel, EVP of marketing and user experience at Sagem Wireless. Biometric solutions such as fingerprint sensors simplify the process of user identification, providing faster and more secure access to personalised services and transactions."
