Does a 'Square' but uses Bluetooth rather than a plug-in dongle.
Sage Pay Mobile is targeting businesses without a fixed location – such as electricians and plumbers – with a handheld terminal that connects to a merchant’s smartphone via Bluetooth.
Its system, developed in partnership with CreditCall, encrypts the data from the card at source, so the merchant and their phone never see the card details.
The solution is already approved with the major UK acquiring banks and meets the latest PCI terminal security standards.
Sage Pay must surely have been inspired by the disruption led by Square in the US and iZettle in Europe. These companies, and a few others, are making great headway by giving merchants that chance to accept card payments without having to install expensive POS readers.
Sage Pay CEO Simon Black said: “There are over half a million businesses in the UK who are still unable to accept card payments. Small businesses need to be able to take payments anywhere and at any time with a reliable card reader. Furthermore, this solution provides a real boost for Sage 50 Accounts Mobile users by enabling connected services.”
The initial release of Sage Pay Mobile will be as a pilot scheme.

I like what Sage came up for a mobile payment platform. I will wait for good reviews to try this one out. In the the meantime, I will stick with mPowa (www.mpowa.com).
