Russell Buckley joins mobile voucher firm Eagle Eye

Former AdMob VP leaves the dole queue to become CMO of UK firm.

Buckley was the second employee of AdMob, which was eventually sold for $750m to Google.

Although best known for this role, Buckley had been working in mobile marketing since 2000.

He left AdMob in February, and has been mulling his next move ever since.

After making noises about becoming an investor in mobile start-ups, he has now opted for a full-time marketing role with Eagle Eye Solutions, which works with retailers such as Comet and Blockbuster to distribute and redeem mobile coupons via credit card terminals and EPoS technology.

Buckley said: “It’s a very exciting time to be joining the Eagle Eye team.

"Digital redemption of mobile coupons to stimulate store visits has long been a requirement for sectors such as retail and FMCG to start seriously spending in the mobile channel.

"After careful research, I’m confident that Eagle Eye has the best solution on the market and more importantly, one which actually works today."

Steve Rothwell, CEO, Eagle Eye Solutions, added: “Russell has an enviable track record of spotting the next big thing before it happens...We’re delighted that such a high profile figure in the mobile marketing industry is joining Eagle Eye."
