Rummble gives the World Cup a social location twist

Lets users find nearest pubs showing the footy.

British social location service Rummble is hoping football fans will use its app to locate pubs and bars showing World Cup matches this month.

The app, which is available for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and as a mobile website, is letting users search for 'worldcup' to find their nearest venue.

Rummble says it's tracking hundreds of venues in the UK, Paris and Berlin. The company is also encouraging users to add more places to ensure its list is as comprehensive as possible.

It's a sign of how social location apps are evolving beyond being just a way to see where your friends are.

In fact, Rummble has always touted its service as being more about recommending places to go to, opening it up for this kind of topical promotion.

"The best bit is that afterwards you can use Rummble  to find the next place to go, to commiserate or celebrate!" says VP of business Alex Housley.
