Rummble adds Twitter checkins, and integrates rival services

Including Foursquare and Gowalla.

Social location service Rummble has announced a bunch of new features, including the ability for users to checkin via Twitter, as well as via its apps.

Users are being invited to tweet their location using the hashtag #rummble, with the service then trying to work out where they are, what they're doing, and whether they like it.

"Computers reading natural language is always tricky; computers reading 140 characters is even trickier," blogs the company. "The more info you include, the better the chance Rummble will guess where you’re talking about!"

Meanwhile, last week Rummble debuted another new feature: the ability for users to see where friends are checking in on rival services including Brightkite, Gowalla and Foursquare.

Well, sort of. It's aggregating tweets sent out from those rival apps, rather than digging into their actual APIs.

Even so, it's an innovative answer to the fragmentation issues of the social location world. Not quite one app to rule them all - but a step in that direction.
