ROK TV into Malaysia

Malaysian operator Celcom has chosen to offer ROK Entertainment's 2.5G and 3G mobile TV services.

It's the second such deal in the region for ROK, which saw its services go live with Thai operator AIS in February. Pakistan's Telenor is also a customer.

Celcom will begin offering ROK TV in August, with a channel line up including ABC News Now, Al-Jazeera, ITN, SNTV, Xtreme TV and Mixcast. The service will be offered on a subscription basis, with full details to be confirmed nearer the launch.

ROK says it is on track to 30 mobile TV services with operators by the end of this year, with more announcements due in the coming weeks.

ROK CEO Laurence Alexander said: "We are delighted to be working with Celcom in bringing the first ever live and on-demand, mass-market 2.5G and 3G mobile TV service to Malaysia and we applaud the initiative demonstrated by Celcom in embracing this new and exciting technology application."

Celcom is the second largest mobile operator in Malaysia with six million subscribers.
