ROK takes its mobile TV service to Android

Fourth smartphone platform may spur more operator deals, says company.

ROK has launched its ROK TV mobile TV service for Android, following previous rollouts on Symbian, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry.

The service offers a mixture of live and on-demand video content.

"We are delighted to have developed ROK TV to work on Google Android handsets as this opens up an important new delivery channel for the continued deployment of ROK TV to mobile operators worldwide," says chairman and CEO Jonathan Kendrick.

It's quite an important D2C channel without the operators involved too, obviously. However, ROK seems focused on the operator angle.

"We will now aggressively market ROK TV on Google Android handsets to our existing and new partner operators worldwide, and will continue to develop our portfolio of mobile services," says Kendrick.
