FoneWorx to handle distribution of ROK mobile TV services across the continent.
The process will begin with the distribution in East Africa, followed by the addition of user-gen content specialist Fonepark in thirteen other countries including Nigeria, Angola, Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique.The GPRS-based ROK platform (to be offered as FoneWorx TV) will also be made available to Africa's public broadcasters.
Over the next six months, FoneWorx will roll out ROK mobile technologies and services to thirty mobile operators across Africa.
ROK and FoneWorx will share the revenue earned from deployments, with pricing set at 10.00 rands for a single app download that includes two channels. Additional channels will be charged at a rate of R3.50 per week.
ROK CEO Laurence Alexander said: "The deployment of ROK’s mobile applications into Africa has been a key goal and FoneWorx have a truly pan-African reach into dozens of mobile phone operators across the continent."
