EA's console port straight in at No. 4 in Apple's most lucrative list
The iPhone version of MTV and EA’s popular console rhythm-action game Rock Band has gone straight into Apple's UK App Store top grossing chart at No. 4.
The £5.99 game was released earlier this week and its early success will be a shot in the arm for publishers keen to maintain higher price points for their titles.
The game will also pose a serious threat to the platform’s current music game champ, Tap Tap Revenge, which recently went live with its third iteration.
Like its rival, Rock Band allows gamers to pay for additional tracks that can be downloaded and then played in the game.
At 99p for two, it means that players of the iPhone version face lower charges than those paying for downloadable content on the console versions.

Rock Band also benefits from a Bluetooth multiplayer mode which allows for four-player simultaneous gameplay for those in close proximity. Multiplayer over longer distances is possible thanks to Facebook friends integration.
Users hoping to take advantage of the game’s full feature set will need to make sure their iPhone or iPod Touch is running the 3.0 OS, though 3.1 is recommended for optimal operation.
