New app for singer's Band of Joy debuts on RIM's App World.
The vast majority of mobile apps based on music artists are released on iPhone, but former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant is bucking the trend.
He's released an app for his new project, Band of Joy, for BlackBerry smartphones.
The app is free, and offers music samples, exclusive videos, and social features using Facebook.
It also hooks into the existing 7Digital music store application, allowing fans to buy the Band of Joy album and download it to their BlackBerry.
Why choose BlackBerry? It could be that RIM was involved, as it was with the U2 Mobile Album app last year.

However, maybe Plant and his label simply decided that BlackBerry was a better fit for his audience demographic.
