Myst sequel is a real space-filler.
Many iPhone developers spend their time trying to figure out how to get games under 20MB, so they can be downloaded over the air.
Cyan Worlds faced a different challenge with their new game Riven: trying to squeeze it under 1GB in file-size. They almost managed it, but not quite.
Riven, which was released yesterday on the App Store, weighs in at 1,035.8 MB in size. The developers explain that even this involved optimising the game from its original DVD version.
"Because of the large size it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you download Riven on your computer using iTunes, and then sync with your iOS device," explains Cyan Worlds in the app description.
"Downloading directly to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is theoretically possible via a wireless connection, but... uh... well... you really don’t want to."
Quite. The game appears faithful to the original version, albeit with the addition of Game Center achievements and 'hot spot hints'. It costs £3.49 on the App Store.
