RIP landlines: Adapter puts Skype on the home phone

Freetalk drives another nail into the old world of telephony.

Skype has been leading the charge against landlines, and even mobiles to a degree, by permitting free Skype to Skype calls and low cost calls to overseas numbers.

However, while huge numbers of people have migrated to Skype via a PC programme or a mobile app, there are still many old school punters who persist with the home phone.

Now the Freetalk Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter gives even these customers the chance to make VoIP calls.

The system requires a PC for the initial set up, along with a landline and broadband Internet connection and a home phone. Various bundles of free minutes are also available with the packs.

“Our mission is to make Skype available everywhere so consumers can enjoy conversations whenever and wherever they are,” said Enrico Noseda, head of market development for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“We are delighted to have partners that help us deliver on this mission through the introduction of new products such as the Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter. Now, using Skype at home is as simple as picking up a handset and dialing.”
