BlackBerry maker beats quarterly earnings forecasts to give sector a lift.
Research In Motion generated revenue of $3.46 billion in its fiscal Q4, up 24.5 per cent from previous quarter and up an impressive 84 per cent from 12 months ago.
As the news filtered through European markets with morning Nokia's shares rose 1.78 per cent, with Telefonica, Vodafone and ARM also rising.
RIM's revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 83 per cent for devices, 12 per cent for service, two per cent for software and thee per cent for other revenue.
RIM shipped approximately 7.8 million devices in tits Q4 and 26 million devices during the full year.
At the end of the quarter, the total BlackBerry subscriber account base was approximately 25 million.

On Wednesday RIM opened its assault on the mobile apps space with the launch of its BlackBerry App World download store.
