Rightmove revamps its iPhone app targeting mobile house-hunters

1.4 million downloads later, development now handled in-house at property website

Property website Rightmove has relaunched its iPhone app, having notched up 1.4 million downloads since the original version was released in August 2009.

The app has been rebuilt by an in-house team, with a new user interface, zoomable floorplans and synchronisation with online Rightmove accounts.

"Rightmove’s initial iPhone app began the shift in consumer behaviour which has seen millions of home-hunters today searching for their next home on mobile phones as well as their laptop and desktop computers," says director Miles Shipside.

With the news of mobile property searches growing, Rightmove says it has started to translate its 82 per cent market share of the top four property portals to mobile platforms.

The company is highlighting figures in comScore's GSMA Application Key Measures index in June 2011, which indicated that its apps attracted seven and a half times more unique visitors than those of rival Find-A-Property.
