Rightmove launches free iPhone property app

Fancy some high-tech househunting despite the woeful state of the housing market? There's an app for that...

UK property website Rightmove has launched a free application letting people search for flats and houses from their iPhone or iPod touch.

Available today, it taps into the million-strong database of properties on the main website, letting users search by postcode or location, and view details and photos of properties for sale or rent.

The app, developed by 2ergo, also uses GPS to detect the user's current location and find nearby properties. Links can be sent to friends, while properties can be viewed on Google Maps.

Searches and properties can be saved for later reference, and users can tap through to call estate agents or request further details.

"The Rightmove iPhone app will add a new dimension to the way people can search for property and means users can now have instant, location-targeted access to the UK’s number one property website," says Miles Shipside, commercial director at Rightmove.
