RealNetworks' subscription music service will be live on the App Store imminently.
It took weeks for Spotify's iPhone application to get Apple's approval, but RealNetworks' Rhapsody app appears to have had a much smoother ride.
The app has been approved, and is likely to be available this week on the App Store, according to PaidContent, which has got hands-on with the application.
Like Spotify, the Rhapsody app is free to download, but requires a paid subscription to be used. That means $15 a month in the US for Real's Rhapsody To Go service. However, unlike Spotify, Real is offering a seven-day free trial to iPhone and iPod touch users who download the app.
This may insulate the app from the harsh criticism meted out to Spotify by App Store users, who've been posting one-star ratings in their thousands and slamming the fact that it requires a paid subscription.
