Revamped HTML5 site boosts New Look's mobile sales by 500 per cent

Mobile conversion rates also double thanks to MIG-built site.

A new HTML5 mobile site has been paying off for British retailer New Look, with spending from phones rocketing since it launched in April 2011.

According to New Look, its mobile sales were up more than 500% year-on-year in its last financial quarter, while site visits were boosted by more than 800%.

"We’ve seen some incredible results since going live with our mobile internet site in April, totally exceeding initial KPIs," says multi-channel director Dom McBrien. "We’ve utilised the latest technology to create a feature-rich mobile shopping experience that offers our customers an easy and convenient way to shop whenever they choose."

The site includes speedier purchasing, as well as the ability to zoom in on products and spin them around, social features and a shared shopping basket with New Look's website. It was built by UK firm Mobile Interactive Group (MIG).

"We are particularly proud of the design and build for New Look as it perfectly demonstrates how far we can push the possibilities of the mobile internet, transactions, and social media and also work with the native device features, like mapping and location, to deliver an amazing user experience and deep user engagement," says MIG's commercial director Matt Cockett.

Many retailers are investing in native apps to target customers remotely, but New Look is the latest proof that effective mobile sites can be just as much of a boost to business.
