Could be first operator deal for the streaming music service.
While Spotify awaits an approval or rejection from Apple for its iPhone application, new reports suggest it's in talks with UK mobile operator 3 about a separate deal.
According to New Media Age, this may include preloading the Spotify application on new handsets from 3, and allowing existing customers to download it.
That would only be half the story, though. Spotify intends its mobile apps - it's also working on versions for Android and Series 60 smartphones - to be available only to paying premium subscribers.
Any deal with 3 would thus need to take that into account: the operator might have to absorb the £9.99 monthly subscription per user into the tariff offered with Spotify-capable handsets.
If a deal is signed, it would make 3 the first mobile operator partner for Spotify.
