Report claims Apple working with News Corp on 'Daily' iPad news app

$0.99 a week for 'tabloid sensibility with a broadsheet intelligence'...

More details have emerged about News Corporation's plans for an iPad newspaper - the 'Daily' - including the claim that Apple is an active partner in the project.

According to The Guardian, the Daily will cost $0.99 a week for subscribers, and will be an iPad-only publication, with no website or print version.

It says 100 journalists have been hired to work on the project out of News Corp's New York offices, but the most intriguing suggestion is Apple's involvement.

"The central innovation, developed with assistance from Apple engineers, will be to dispatch the publication automatically to an iPad or any of the growing number of similar devices," claims the report.

Apple has been expected to launch its own 'news-stand' service for iPad publications. It's possible that News Corp's Daily will be the guinea pig for it, which would explain the close co-operation.
