RealNetworks is to bolster its casual gaming proposition by acquiring New York-based Game Trust.

The transaction is expected to close early in the fourth quarter. Real plans to improve the service it offers syndication partners by adding Game Trust's community and commerce expertise to its own technology platform to. Real powers more than 200 casual games channels worldwide. It’s active in mobile gaming via its subsidiary Mr Goodliving.

Game Trust's Game Frame platform powers community and commerce feature in online casual games. It Trust syndicates the platform to media companies around the world.

Harold Zeitz, senior VP of Real's Games Division, said: “Our partners want to add social networking to their sites to further engage their game players. This acquisition will create enhanced consumer experiences for our partners' offerings and for Real's casual games players."
