Quarter of EU5 doctors use iPad at work

Last month, we reported that the iPad was a film favourite among 94 per cent of businesses.

Now, Manhattan Research says 26 per cent of practicing doctors in the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy own an iPad, while 27 per cent of them use it to go online at work, according to pmlive.

The doctors use their devices to search for medical articles, view videos, and are interested in using iPads for their patients.

Additionally, research shows 40 per cent plan to buy an Apple tablet, within the next six months.

Christina Anthogalidis, principal analyst at Manhattan Research, said: “We discovered that iPad-owning physicians spend an impressive 27 per cent of their professional online time on the device, likely replacing desktop time and probably some offline media time too.

"Use of these devices at the point-of-care to educate patients and manage records is also promising at this stage."

Results like this show key room for development and monetisation of mobile health, which is set to be worth $23 billion by 2017, according to GSMA.
