* 3G: There are 1.3 billion 3G connections worldwide, and will be 2bn by 2015. In Europe the total is 332m of which 224m are in the West and 108m in the East. That's 39 per cent of all European mobile users. The rate will hit 56 per cent by 2015.
* Next gen 3G: There are 136 HSPA networks live with 193 imminent. Meanwhile 24 LTE networks have been deployed with 166 commitments to come.
* Smartphones: 4bn will be sold between 2011 and 2015, with low end phones powering most growth. Qualcomm thinks the annual growth in sub $300 devices will be 30 per cent. But it also has a roadmap for sub $50 smartphone. Today, 45 per cent of phones in Western Europe and 25 per cent in the East are smartphones. By 2015 the respective rates will be 65 per cent and 43 per cent.
* Chipsets: Mass market devices can now support 1GHz, while the top end device support quadcore processors. The first such devices will ship this year.
