QR code scanning contest gives away $33k in a month

Over 800 players took part in Qriket competition.

Toronto-based Qricket launched the contest in which teams compete to win real cash prizes just by scanning QR Codes.

It's now working on 'season 2' with $25,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

The project requires users to download the free iOS app and then collect points by scanning any QR Code they find. At the end of every month-long season, the winning teams split the cash prize and the game starts over again.

They can scan even when they don't gave an internet connection.

“The cash prizes give people an incentive to scan QR Codes,” says Jonny Comparelli of Qriket, “so players are being delivered the QR Code content in a fun and innovative way.”
