Livestreaming app going from strength to strength.
Livestreaming video service Qik now has 3.5 million users, with nearly 500,000 more joining every month, according to co-founder Bhaskar Roy.
He tells TechCrunch that the app's userbase has increased sixfold in the last year, thanks partly to preload deals with handset makers.
What's more, Roy claims that Qik's app will be preloaded on 75 million devices in the next year thanks to these deals.
Separately, Qik has told Engadget that it plans to use Apple's FaceTime technology in its videochat feature, as soon as Apple releases the APIs.
The company has also announced two executive appointments. Bob Rosin is its new EVP of business and corporate development, while Allyson Campa is its new SVP of marketing.

Rosin's job will be to sign more partnerships with handset makers, platform providers and operators, as it seeks to push that 75 million preloads prediction higher in 2011.
