Proxama acquires Hypertag

More action in the NFC space as tech specialist moves for proximity marketing firm.

The move means Hypertag will become a division of Proxama in order to focus on delivering proximity marketing campaigns for international brands such as Nokia, Ford, O2 and BP.

Hypertag has a reputation as one of the bigger players in the Bluetooth and wi-fi marketing space, but will now be able to add NFC technology to its offering.

Proxama will retain the Hypertag brand in the deal as well as incorporating members of the Hypertag team into the new set-up.

Neil Garner, CEO of Proxamam said: "Both companies have a track record of success in using mobile technology to revolutionise marketing campaigns and provide a greater return on investment for brands.

"With the growth of mobile uptake, NFC usage and the switching of advertising revenues away from traditional media we are perfectly placed to exploit the demand for 'hyper-local' marketing communications."
