Promotions site ePrize acquires mobile marketer Cellit

Client list doubles to almost 1,000.

ePrize bought Cellit for an undisclosed figure in order to move its promotions and marketing business to mobile, making that its primary platform.

ePrize is currently in the midst of transferring clients customer loyalty points, coupons and campaigns from the web to mobile.

According to the firm, 88 per cent of client campaigns are likely to use mobile this year, which is a 20 per cent from 2011 and it's this that swayed ePrize's change of strategy.

Matt Wise, ePrize CEO, said: "Rapid consumer adoption of mobile technology is fundamentally changing how brands engage and inform the public about new products and services.

"MMA Global reported that 83 percent of mobile users take their phones with them everywhere; and CTIA reports that 74 million people in the U.S. have opted in to text messages from marketers. Brands with a mobile component in their campaign have a huge opportunity to capture consumers wherever they are and whenever they're ready."

Cellit's introduction will reel in an additional 450 clients for ePrize, which brings the total number to nearly 1,000.  ePrize is estimated to hit revenues of $70 million this year, while Cellit is predicted to triple mobile generated revenues.
