Indias The Porting Lab will launch a self-service, free site available via the web.
The company believes there is a gap in the market for giving smaller codeshops access to basic services without charge, then up-selling premium services where needed. It’s therefore making an open-source version of its proprietery technology suite, PowerPort, available to any developer.
Vishal Lamba, CEO of The Porting Lab, said: “There are lots of small companies out there making games in just a few weeks. We want to help them. This is an approach that the porting sector needs: you want the community to get involved, take the code and write their own plug-ins. It improves things.”
It’s not the The Porting Lab’s only big idea. It’s also planning a service along the lines of the one pioneered by DeviceAnywhere that provides virtual, online access to handsets in target networks. It will be launched in December.
