PlayPhone unveils $10m marketing fund for social mobile games

Nice carrot to attract developers to its recently-launched social gaming platform.

PlayPhone said games launched on its service will benefit from regional branding, advertising, community and multi-language support in more than 25 countries.

PlayPhone Social lets consumers participate in social games with friends across the iPhone, Android, and web-based Flash platforms.

The firm unveiled its platform last October in a dramatic switch from the ringtone-club model that had underpinned its previous success.

Despite taking on some powerful players in the space such as OpenFeint and Scoreloop, the firm bagged an eye-catching first deal with Liveware Worldwide, maker of the Harvest Moon franchise.
