Scott Gorham will front a new service aimed squarely at fans of classic rock.
The Rock Heroes web and mobile portal will offer ringtones, games and graphics drawn from the world of rock, while guitarists will also be able to download tab and chords.Really keen users can chat and upload pictures and videos from phones or on the web via a built-in mobile social network.
To kick things off PlayPhone has signed up Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham (big mate of PlayPhone EMEA MD Martin Bowley) to record exclusive video and audio interviews and clips of him playing classic Thin Lizzy riffs and solos.
The international service will launch in the UK (£4.50 per week) and Germany (euro 4.99 per week) this month and shortly after in the Nordic region at a similar price. There will be an advertising campaign in guitar related media to drive people to the site.
PlayPhone MD Bowley said: “Working with Scott has proved to be as exciting for us as it has for him immersing himself in the world of mobile. This service if just the start of a series that we’ll be working on with other famous rock musicians for our Rock Heroes portal."
