Launch extends Omnifone's unlimited music downloads service to nine countries.
Sony Ericsson PlayNow, powered by Omnifone, plus offers unlimited music downloads out of the box, enabling users to download, play and share unlimited amounts of music to mobile and PC. The cost of the unlimited music downloads is included in the handset price.
The service offers over three million tracks, with over 100 tracks to keep per six months. It is live today with Telenor Sweden, Swisscom Switzerland, Singtel Singapore and Orange Austria.
The pay-off for operators is in monetising their data networks by offering price plans with PlayNow plus handsets including voice, data and unlimited music.
Omnifone also powers its own Music Station unlimited music subscription service with various partners. With PlayNow plus, Omnifone is now live across the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
