Player One secures Grand National rights

Player One Sports has acquired all mobile content rights for the Aintree Grand National horse race for the next three years.

Player One Sports, a division of mobile content provider Player One, has created a Grand National mobile channel that will offer live streamed races, tips from TV pundit John McCririck, video from 10 classic past Nationals and a mobile game.

It's the second channel Player One Sports has developed following its Ashes cricket channel late last year, which included the Mark Durden Smith-hosted mobishow Ashes Down Under.

The Grand National channel will be available on major networks in the UK to coincide with this year's Aintree race meeting, which runs April 12th-14th in Liverpool. It is estimated that 600 million people worldwide watch the Grand National steeplechase itself on TV.

Pete Russell, managing director of Player One, said: “The Grand National content produced for this year’s race is wonderfully diverse and is a great endorsement of our channel strategy. Being such an iconic event with such a rich history, the available archive has allowed for the creation of some exceptional mobile content which will be enjoyed worldwide."
