But Apple's new music social network is already attracting spammers.
Apple's new music social network, Ping, signed up one million users in its first two days according to an announcement from Apple.
"One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping," says VP of internet services Eddy Cue.
"As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing."
With 160 million registered iTunes accounts, there's clearly plenty of room for growth. However, Ping is facing some early teething troubles.
They include an early attack of spam messages, posted as comments on the Ping profiles of big artists.

The service has also been criticised for its lack of openness, with influential VC Fred Wilson distinctly unimpressed.
"Ping shows what a command and control culture thinks a social network is. I am sure millions of people will use Ping. And I am equally sure that it will not advance the state of the music business one bit."
