Canadian operator reaps Q3 rewards from 255,000 iPhone units sold.
Shares in Rogers Communications jumped 5.3 per cent in early trading today as the iPhone effect radiated through its 3Q08 earnings report.The company activated 255,000 iPhone during the quarter, having begun selling Apple's device on July 11th. Impressively, one third of the activations were new customers.
It all meant that Rogers profits leapt 84 per cent in the quarter to C$495 million, with revenue up 14 per cent to C$2.98 billion.
Regarding the iPhone sales Rogers COO Nadir Mohamed said: "The number of activations... is simply phenomenal."
