Peratech designs 'revolutionary' touchscreen technology

Says QTC Clear trumps resistive and capacitive, and create new breed of 'force sensing' screens.

Quantum Tunnelling Composite is only 6-8 microns thick with a transparency that similar to the existing touchscreen technologies.

Peratech says it is so sensitive that it can detect deflections of only a few microns so that the top surface can be rigid like glass.

As such it is an improvement on the resistive and capacitive technologies most phones use.

Resistive has a soft top layer, which deforms when contact is made. But this makes it vulnerable to damage by scratching – and it can’t do multi-touch

Capacitive has a hard top surface, and can do multi-touch. But uses a lot of power, so it's not good for large screens.

QTC Clear is accurate, low power consuming and can be made in any size. It also enables a third dimension of pressure for more accurate manipulation of the screen image.

It has already been licensed to a leading touch screen manufacturer.
