Paid e-books now live in Apple's UK iBooks store

HarperCollins, Macmillan and Hodder & Stoughton all on board for launch.

However, this morning there are plenty of paid titles, including Chris Evans' autobiography, Andrew Marr's The Making of Modern Britain, and Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall.

We've spotted titles from publishers HarperCollins, Pan Macmillan and Hodder & Stoughton. Prices are varied: titles are selling for anywhere between £5.99 and £11.99.

One concern in Europe is that publishers are unsure if the 'agency model' being used by Apple to set prices of e-books is eveb legal on this side of the Atlantic, as the Financial Times explains.

Still, it seems at least three publishers have overcome those concerns and got titles onto Apple's store in time for 8am today, when the first UK customers will (officially) get their hands on the iPad.
