UK billing specialist raising big money for South African good cause.
It is supporting the ‘Project O’ charity by pledging to raise £40,000 this year and sending up to 15 staff from its international offices to Durban during September to build a new house for HIV/AIDS orphans.
Oxygen8 will embark on a series of fundraising activities between April and July and is appealing to all partners to chip in in order to ensure that the £40,000 target is exceeded. It will use its own micro-billing and mobile technology platform to facilitate donations via mobile phones.
There are now over three million orphans of HIV/AIDS in South Africa; Project O has been established to help with financial assistance, support, education, and basic medical care.
Shane Leahy, Group CEO of Oxygen8, said: “The developing orphan crisis in South Africa is now critical. Oxygen8 is a global business, and we have a strong presence in South Africa so we wanted to get involved in Project O in order to give something back to the region, and to help orphans to grow and prosper."
