Ovi generates highest individual app downloads

Two and a half times more than the Apple App Store.

Germany-based market watcher research2guidance says Apple might batter the competition in terms of overall downloads, but suggests that individual apps might have a better chance on other stores.

It found that in Q2 2011, the average app in Nokia’s Ovi Store generated 160 per cent more daily downloads than the average iOS app.

Windows Marketplace apps beat iOS counterparts by 80 per cent, while BlackBerry App World apps did 43 per cent more.

Interesting stuff that says a lot about the volume and overcrowding in the Apple store, which has 400,000 apps – over ten times the Ovi catalogue.
