And code use by marketers grew 194 per cent from 2010 to 2011
InfoTrends' new study Mobile Technology: Making Print Interactive explores what specifically drives consumers to interact with mobile codes, mobile messaging, and augmented reality.
It registered a significant spike in the adoption of mobile codes, including Quick Response (QR) codes, Microsoft Tag, image recognition, and digital watermarks.
InfoTrends estimates that over 180 million Americans have familiarity with mobile codes, and that over 50 million have interacted with them in the past year.
It adds that marketers nearly tripled their use from 2010 to 2011, and that overall awareness of codes among them leapt from 64 per cent to 88 per cent.

The number of QR code users has exploded in the past year as I am happy to see. I really believe that with smartphone adaptation picking up so quickly that these QR codes wil be very helpful and practical in the near future. Was worried about the adaptation rate of QR codes when they first came about but it seems that there is a trend; the more smartphones sold the more awareness of QR codes.
